Walter White cut his wife’s throat. White (24) a painter by trade. He was a teetotaller for some time, but on whit Monday he took again to drink. He and his wife were married on whit Monday 1881.
At about 5am, Mr William Osborne living next door heard cries of murder. He went downstairs and saw Mrs White trying to get out the window, she was saturated with blood and trying to get out the window. He and a neighbour went into the house and found her throat cut but not very seriously. Dr W. Hicks was sent for and attended to the wounds. Information was given to police sergeant Quenby. After seeing the injured woman the police officer went down street after the prisoner and apprehended him on the charge of attempting to murder his wife.
